Happy Almost Thanksgiving!
I’m finishing up my 8th month mark
here. It’s a tad bit crazy…but some brief updates:
I was given the opportunity to help with
childcare for an AIM South Sudan retreat. It was an amazing opportunity and I’m
sooo sooo very excited for my friend Lisa Lock who will be serving there for 7
months with the Didinga people group! Please pray for her, as I’ve heard and
experienced, it’s rough but the people and place are awesome.
10 of our GSF children got baptized! A lot of
our children raised their hands saying they wanted to get baptized. Several of
the missionaries and staff were able to talk to them to make sure they knew what
baptism was and if they were genuinely saved. It was a nice time to just counsel them and talk to them
We had a staff sports day that included all the
missionaries and Ugandan staff! It was fun (for the part that I didn’t
miss.)
Our children had a celebration for passing P7
(primary level). Basically they are graduating into 7th grade...i think
Some of our children are being resettled (going
back home to live with relatives). We will miss them. Three of them already left!
We have a new child care center—with a new
clinic! And a NICE trampoline for our special needs children! I LOVE the trampoline!
We made big bubbles! Thank you for whoever
donated/bought the supplies for us! It was AMAZING and so sweet seeing
some of the kids play with bubbles for the first time.
We played with balloons! Thank you for
whoever donated/bought the supplies for us! Now, the children just want me for bubbles and balloons!
AIM allows
us short termers a few weeks vacation. I was able to take one of the weeks off
to vacation with my brother and sister in law on their trip to South Africa. It
was a nice refreshing time and a sweet little break. It was so different though
driving on freeways without potholes and with people adhering to the stop
lights (aka ROBOTS).
And last
but not least…tacos do not have the same meaning as tacos back in the states…
